halloween challange and a fine feathered friend!

halloween crown
I had posted a while back that I would be hosting a halloween crown swap. but Ive since changed my mind, and thought instead, I'd offer up a challange! so here it is.. hopefully people will be interested.
Make a halloween crown, or a witches hat! Something very special that you will get to keep for yourself!
halloween crown 2
Send me a picture, and I will post them all on october 25th! That gives us a little over a month to make one. I made this one today using the new halloween alice in wonderland papers.. They are so cute. So come on ladies.. join in the fun! Create yourself a sweet halloween crown! You can make it out of anything you want too. I've seen some pretty fantastic crowns in blogland and on flickr. The possibilities are endless. If you need some royal inspiration, goggle crown images.. you'll see tons!
And spread the word too, the more the merrier. I'll try to make a button tomorrow to post.
crown 3
Its been a busy weekend. Ive been on call, and been shopping and cooked a big dinner tonight ( roast beef, oven roasted potatos, butternut squash, brussel sprouts, rolls and applecrisp with ice cream!) for Jennifers 29th birthday! You know, I just cant believe that my oldest child is 29... and that another is pregnant and going to make me a grandmother! and that in 3 weeks I'll be 50..... Its all so odd sounding to me.. LIke I'm looking at someone elses life, because I could not possible be old enough to have a child who is 29, or a grandchild! I think I'm only, maybe, 30 ish! I'll have to come up with a special post for my 50th birthday... also.. I'm hovering around my 500th post here~
crown 4
today I put together another shelving unit, just one of those tall white, cheapys from target. I really needed more storage space in my craft room. I need to get organized!! Funny how this room has just filled up since I've started using it!
crown 6
I have a busy couple of weeks in store. My mother will be coming up from Florida and will arrive on Thursday. She is bringing my grandmothers bird. She , Buffy, will be coming to live with me. I've sort of inheredited her. After Grandma died, buffy needed someone to care for her. She is only 12, which is quite young for a parrot. Anyways, she will arrive in rochester on Thursday night and we will have to go pick her up, which means, i need to get her cage and get ready for her between now and then. Friday my sister will arrive from MO, Saturday we'll all travel down to Cattarugus for my grandmothers grave side service and a little family gathering. Sunday my hubby leaves for florida with his uncle for a week, and I will spend the week trying to make Buffy at home and also getting ready for Bethanys baby shower.
buffy
Her shower is on my birthday on the 2nd. We have invited about 80 people and we have a lot of work to do.! I can hardly believe I'm getting a grandbaby!! I do have to admit that I'm getting excited now.
buffy 2
Alrighty then.. I'm feeling quite exhausted from the day.. and I think I should head for bed... so I'll be back tomorrow! Till then, sweet dreams!

Love the crown!!! :-)

We have a blue & gold macaw. We got him 21 years ago. Birds are a delight and a pain in the butt! :-)

Bird seed is not adequate. In the wild they eat all sorts of things. Pasta, fruit, veggies, and some protein is wonderful to provide. Also never give chocolate or avocados. It could kill a parrot instantly.

Our bird Bandit loves pasta & cheese. I make him breakfast, lunch & dinner. He gets whatever we are having. I hardly ever buy him bird seed. I do get a variety of nuts though. Sunflower seeds are full of caffeine and not good for birds. They will get addicted and only want to eat that.

I can't wait to read about your adventures with your new birdy.

And Im sorry about your grandmothers passing. {{{hugs}}}

XOXO

I just wanted to tell you how much I am enjoying your blog. I just discovered it a few days ago and I am reading past posts. I can't believe how much energy you have and how much you get done! I am also having a child turn 29 in October. Even though I am a little older than you,(55) it is hard to believe that we can have kids that old. I'm impatiently waiting for grandkids!
Anyway I am inspired by your blog to start crafting in different directions, like needle felting and paperclay. Thnaks!

Viv: Ohmygoodness girl. You are a busy bee. I will be sending you a picture within the next week or so. Have two crowns started for another event and will share. But yours is well........fabu darling. Very, very, nice.
You're not old enought to have a 29 year old or grands but you are 21 plus tax????? hehehe
Grands are the bestest. You know the old saying, "if I'd a known grandkids were so much fun, I woulda skipped the kids".
Your dinner reminds me that I should fix something similar soon...my hubby's fav. The Olde Bagg

Really, really cute crowns, Viv. I do love that paper so much! Sounds like you are in for the long haul with the bird!

How nice that you are going to be a grandmother! I envy you. My daughter is thirty-one and still not married and I am sixty! You are a baby still,

Suz

You are a hoot. Somehow I'm have a picture in my mind of you playing with Wednesday from the Addams family and brewing up fun Halloween delight. I'm sure Wednesday celebrated all year long just like you! By the way, I met Wednesday (the actress) at a antique show once!
Love the idea of the crown! Did I tell you I'm going to work for Michaels craft store? I start tomorrow, I'm sure I'll go over the edge with all the idea's brewing for all the holidays.
Happy as a lark, I stopped by.
Remember to eat, drink and be merry with all the relatives coming and going.

Holy Molan Oli Vivian! You do have a full plate! I'll swap you one huge puppy for one bird. It has got to be easier (I hope!) Cute as can be crown! You are amazing! Congratulations on your grandbaby! 80 guests! Wow! Should be such fun. I have a baby shower to attend next weekend as well for my youngest SIL who will be a first grandmother at the age of 42! We need to see an update of these new shelves! Have a great time! Hugs, E

Hi Viv!
Your crown is just TOO delicious...and while I know getting a pet in ANY way other than going out and intentionally purchasing one is a challenge, I must confess our little schnauzer Webster has become one of the great joys of our lives! My sister and her fam moved to Sudan Africa, and so little Webster was up for adoption...we have been petless our entire marriage, but now he is our BABY!

I will try to join in the crown crafting fun...although your crown is beyond FABulous...over THE TOP wonderful. I LOVE IT! Your Halloween creations are just AMAZING! I would love to walk through your home and just take it all in! FUN!

Have a great week!
