what I did yesterday.. a lot of pictures!

1
for months.. maybe years.. Ive been seeing christmas dollhouses, including Kim K's sweet little house.  I have these two old beat up old houses that Ive had for about 25 or more years.   Every so often I would drag them out to play with a little bit, but they really have never been anything special.

So for quite some time Ive been saying that I wanted to turn one into a christmas house and one into a halloween house.
7
Then, Yesterday Kim posted pics of her sweet little christmas house and it was at just the right time!  Inspiration struck and stuck!  I had nothing else planned and nothing else I was dying to do, It was snowing out and I didnt need to or want to go anywhere, so I dug my little houses out!
8
I actually was going to use the other house, but then decided that one would be better suited to halloween and this one for christmas.   so I played around with it most of the day and night!.
10 11
I had everything I needed except the white felt, but my hubby was a good boy and went out in all that snow to walmart to buy some for me.  My  little house needed a snowy roof and icicles.  dont you think?
18
Its a tiny little house, only 4 little rooms.  someday I would love to have a big old victorian doll house.  I  havent been in a very long time, but the strong museum in rochester has a lot of dolls and doll houses on display that are really freaken awesome.  now Im wanting to go!

I used to go to some doll and miniature shows, years ago, but they dont have them in our area anymore.  theres a doll and bear show once a year, that has a couple booths that sell small things, but thats about it.
I dont dare go looking on etsy or ebay for stuff.. I cant afford another obsession! lol!
15
I could easily get carried away!
 14
Anyways, I enjoyed myself yesterday cleaning this one up and making it all christmasy!  Now the question is, what ever will I do with it?  I guess I'll have to make room for it in my craft room.. which is already overflowing with STUFF.
 1213
oh how I love stuff!  all kinds of stuff..  (God, please dont let me turn into a hoarder..thank you and amen)
20
look a little cloche!  sort of big for the table, but really, who cares!?
1921
You know Im going to end up on etsy and ebay now that Ive done this one.. I'll be itching to do the halloween one.  Im going to need to buy some STUFF!  even for this one,  Im thinking a little buffet  with some christmas cupcakes and gingerbread house...
22
And really, probably best if I dont let my mind wander to the halloween one yet!  but on the other hand, I could start collecting things for it now... right?
 23
So I had fun yesterday and finally did something that Ive been talking about doing for a long time.  I used just what I had on hand, but somethings I will redo, like the stockings on the fireplace, I want to make real ones and the gifts, I will make real ones.. as well as a few other things.
 25
Such fun!  I hope you enjoy my little christmas house!

Oh, goodness! That little doll house is really special now! Wow! Love it! OK, I'll ease up on the exclamation points, but your beautiful, sweet house deserves a bunch of them. Oh...!!!!

It's perfect. I was hoping you had fun playing with your sweet little house. You can keep this up year round and decorate it for each holiday. I made mini valentines and boxes of chocolates today. I'm squeezing in a ton of craft time with the girls before the university beckons me back. Lots of mini love, sweetie.

OMGosh- Viv- That is beyond wonderful!!! I just love it and you did a great job on it. I am the same way-I pray that I do not turn into a hoarder. I have a doll house that belonged to my kids that my brother-in-law built- an exact replica of his grandmother's house - I really should do something with it-xo Diana

Lordy is this cute !! Looks like you had some great miniature things "on-hand" This is on my to do list but I have to give it all significant consideration :) I have been gathering Wee folk type creatures and have a barn sitting in my entry way screaming "put some snow on me" , and "give me some animals" sadly ignored ... Leslie Shepard at http://miniatures.about.com/ has a number of mini tutorials and printables Happy New Year ! Elaine

It's adorable! I think it's great that you used what you had on hand. I am doing my best to not buy anything new. it's very hard, but I have so much stuff too!

My gosh Viv you really outdid yourself here with this house. You must have had a lot of miniatures lying around to make this, goodness! Nice of your hubby to run out in the snow for white felt too!!

Viv,
This is so cute!!!! I wish I could afford more than one, but I only have the Marx tin one and it takes up all the room! I have got to remember these photos next year! :) I had enough trouble getting my regular house decorated!lol

Viv you & Kim are tempting me so bad! My hubby's word for the year is "down size" .....I don't know what that means anyway....but I really don't have room for a doll house...have never really thought about it.. but after looking at Kim's & now yours I found myself looking on our local Craig's list for one! My husband will just die if I get one LOL...it just me & the dog for females in the house...my boys would have a fit...I don't even have grand babies yet to justify getting one!....LOL! Enjoy your lovely house!

That is adorable, Vivian! Such a fun way to spend the day. I did some sewing yesterday. That was my creative outlet since having guests visiting has limited what I can do right now. I have a large dollhouse that my Dad did for my daughter when she was little. I'm looking forward to updating it for my granddaughter in a couple of years.

How sweet is that? You could do a small house for each of the holidays. This one is just too cute. You already had a table and chairs. Everything is just right. Happy New Year sweet friend! XO

It's really cute, Viv! And who cares what's too big or too small??? You are playing and having fun with it and that's what counts. I wish I had room for a little doll cottage to fix up and then decorate for the holidays. But it would have to be really teensy ir order to fit anyplace!
