mermaid inspiration

One of the things I've always loved about blogs and blogging is the amount of talent and inspiration I find out here!  I love visiting creative people to see what they're doing.  We get good ideas that way.  Same with pinterest right?   Sometimes I get inspiration overflow and don't know what to do first!

I have to tell you that one of the best places for inspiration is at Magpie Ethel's.  She is just freaking amazing.. her collections and creations are the best.  Not to mention her "somedaybeachhouse"  OMG!  

So many times I've gone to her Etsy sale too late and missed the chance to buy something I loved from her and it happened again a couple weeks ago when she did her mermaid sale.  But this time I noticed the custom order button!  woo hoo!  so I ordered a spunhead mermaid from her and she came early this week.  Isn't she stinking cute!?  I'm obsessed with her!  lol!

  

So Back to the Inspiration part..

Laurie  (Magpie) makes the most adorable mermaids out of old story book dolls and I have a bunch of them and I was obsessively inspired to give it a try!   So I pulled a couple dolls out  and pulled off their legs!  I know.. thats just bizarre.  but I did it.  Laurie told me that she bought her dolls with the legs missing already..  well.. I didn't have that option... so I amputated!

Then I made paperclay mermaid tails for them!  The hardest part was waiting two days for them to dry.  Once dried the fun part began!  painting and embellishing!

I have a million seashells, but didnt have any tiny matching shells that would work for little mermaid bras!  so I had to make a special trip 45 minutes away to michael's to get some! lol!!

So worth the trip because they turned out so darned cute!

lol.. someone mentioned that the little one above looked angry..  and I said.. well you'd be angry too if someone pulled your legs off and glued seashells onto your breasts with hot glue!  lol!

 Aren't they sweet?  Don't ya think?

 And sooo.. it was a happy Mermaid week!  and now were at another saturday morning with a bright and sunny day ahead!  And where do you think you'll find me???

yup...  its a lake day!

Today Bethany and I are going kidless...  I bought a bunch of goodies for our lunch and snacks and some new magazines.  We first have Torry's soccer game to go to and then hes staying with his dad.  Of course he doesn't know that we're going to the beach, that would be a problem.  lol!  I feel a little sneaky and Bethany feels guilty!  lol!  but that's the plan!

cooling off!

Its been awfully hot here...

This is all Maggie's fault.  she posted some skellies dressed in grass skirts on my time line on facebook.  And then my little brain went "POP!" and I thought I need to get Boney and Bonita out for a swim shoot!

I was apprehensive at first because my neighbors would think I was a kook and because I didnt know if I really wanted to go upstairs to drag them out.  Also, that meant I would have to undress them because there were all dressed up when I put them away.  

 But the thought wouldnt leave my mind.. and before you knew it the skellies were undressed and having a good old time floating in the grandpies pool!

It was so worth it!

And I thought.. oh well I am nuts.. so what if people think that!

 lol!

At least I have fun and I am never ever bored!

good morning friendies!

I dont know what happen to my blog post the last time.  It appears that I posted it twice somehow.   How weird.  I feel like my bloggy pals are dwindling, not getting as many comments as I used to.  my fault for my dwindling posts im sure.   I think people come and dont comment.  Im guilty of the same thing.  sometimes Im just trying to keep up and always on the run.   That seems to be the story of my life though..  

always on the run and barely keeping up with anything, at home and at work!

and this one is one of my most favorites ever.. I was 13 when this song came out.  I love this song.. makes me think of so many summer nights and old boyfriends!  lol!  

Anyways.. I hadnt intended on posting songs this morning.  not sure how I ended up there!  

Im looking forward to a 4 day weekend this weekend.  I know I will get some lake time in.  My mother is up from florida but she will be in boston this weekend. I'll see her on monday.  She came out Friday night with a couple of my aunts and one of our family friends and we all went out for fishfrys.  It was nice to visit. 

I have bear orders stacking up again.  I need to work on them.  I may dedicate my mornings to them this weekend..  maybe I'll plan from 5:00 am to 9:00 am for bears.  4 days of that and I should be able to get a great head start of them.  Now, if only I will stick to my plan! lol!  Im so impulsive, you just never know what I will do.  

Im going tonight to look at wallpaper.  I know some people dont care for it, but in this old house, its really my only choice with out knocking every wall out and starting over..  which Im not interested in doing!  lol!  not really interested in wallpapering either.  but my bedroom NEEDS it desparetely!

I hope everyone is enjoying their summer.  Im trying too!  so much crap going on in our country that I have a tendency to have some fleeting moments of feeling a little hopeless.   But then I just remind myself that no matter what is happening that God is in control.  I keep thinking about giving up facebook..  and I really should.  maybe I should do that and put my attention back into my blog! 

Im hoping to do something creative this weekend too.  I really need the whole summer off..  oy vey!   ok.. only a half an hour left to get ready for work now..    better get going..  (see???  always on the run!)  still have to feed the bird, water the flowers, get dressed.. do my face...   bla bla bla...)

another great 4th of July!

I know..   I know.. I'm slipping again!  Just so darn busy I guess!   Ive been meaning to post a few pics from the Fourth.  I tried to make up some collages to post rather then individual photos but I kept getting side tracked.  I have a terrible time staying focused on any one thing.... unless I'm creating something.

Anyways..  we had a great fourth of July. Another year of beautiful weather!  We've been so lucky! 

I hit the ground running at ten minutes to 5:00 am.. and really didn't sit down and still until the fireworks that night.  I was exhausted.. but a  good exhausted.  lol!

Except that I did have to go to work the next day...

i survived though! lol!

We started out watching the parade from Robby and Tiffany's house.  Then everyone came here shortly afterwords.  Lyndonville really celebrates the Fourth of July, so there is a lot of stuff that goes on up town.  They have the parade, a chicken BBQ, a craft show, car show, bands, and tractor pulls.  And then the fireworks, which are always awesome.

 I used to go up to the craft show and walk around a bit, but I don't anymore.  I haven't in a few years.  The craft show is not really the kind of stuff I like.  I'm a bit spoiled by the country living fairs now!

But the kids usually go up and walk through.  I don't think any of them bought anything though.

Anyways, we had a good day.  the babies were all dressed festively and this grammie pie spent a bunch of money to make the parade extra fun for the kids, on patriotic tiaras, sunglasses, dillibobs, flags, red white and blue necklaces, light up necklaces,  patriotic tattoos, little red stripped candy bags and candy, not just for my pies but for all the kids that would be there.

I just get obsessed about holiday stuff and I tend to go a little bit overboard.   You know I cant help myself.  I just like to try to make everything just a little extra special.

So now, I'm considering packing up all the fourth of July decorations....   and pulling out the "summer" bins, which consist of seashells and flamingos and such.   just considering it, that's all.  I think I'm going to go upstairs this morning and peek in the bins and think about it.  lol!

Ive been to the beach 7 times already this year!  I went twice after work last week.  And I went down the road to the lake one morning this week and sat drinking my tea before going to work.   Work has been so so stressful lately and I am so far behind!  oy vey!  oh well..  I do the best I can.  The lake is soothing for me, so I try to get there as often as I can.  well, I think you already know that about me! lol!

I have off Monday and Tuesday so I'm on a 4 day weekend.  MUCHLY needed!  went shopping yesterday with my daughter and I'm going out this afternoon with a couple girlfriends.  I saw a couple sort of expensive things yesterday that I fell in love with that I didn't buy...   but I think I'm going back to get them today!  

I was going to post some pics of the house all decorated..  but silly blogger wont let me upload another photo right now..   so if you want to see all the decoration pics, you can pop over to my flicker to see them

another great 4th of July!

I know..   I know..
