Happy Memorial Day

mini cup cakes 1

I hope everyone has a wonderful day and remembers those who have paved the way for us to enjoy the lives we have here in our country. My father served our country most of his life in one capacity or another. He was a sailor for 4 years, and they he was in the national guard forever.. and then in the air force reserves when he retired from the government.

And there are hundreds of thousands more like him! Thats what today is about. so lets remember them while were all out picnicing and enjoying our family and friends today!

mini cup cakes

so, what will you be doing today? Torry Pie and the rest of the family will be coming over today for a cook out. Ive got hotdogs, hamburgers and italian sausage thawing out. And I've cooked the macaroni for the pasta salad. I need to get back to that. I also made real cupcakes as well as these tiny faux ones this morning! Now I'm off to shower and go for a bike ride.

Im feeling very much like a slug lately. I need to get back on my weight watchers and get moving again.. I hate feeling fat and lazy!!

(hmmm.. how did I get on that subject anyways???)

Viv,
My Dad followed a very similar path to your Dad...before WWII he lied about his age and got into the Wisconsin National Guard, then went to fight in WWII then he was in the guard until he had to retire for medical reasons....22 years of service, not enough for any kind of benefits when he died....you are holding out on us! HOW did you make those incredible faux cupcakes??????? I want to make some!!!!! Tutorial please....:):) Sandy Your little grandson is growning every day!!!!!

Oh...he is sweet, sweet, sweet. Those faux cupcakes are adorable...did you decorate the real ones similarly? Sounds like you have a fun day planned. I'm glad you're having such a great Memorial Day.

Torry Pie is soooooo CUTE!! Love his little smile. What a Sweetie.
Thank You to your Dad for his service to our Country. My Dad was in WWII and was in D DAY. He was in the 101st Air borne and then when they added the 82nd Airborne; he was put in the 82nd Airborne. Before he passed away several years ago, he gave me his DD214 and all his metals, his purple heart and his ribbons.
Glad you had a wonderful Day. I ate too much also. LOL. Hugs, Fran

Your father sounds like a very dedicated man to the service. I'm always in awe of those who choose to serve our country. Torrie is just a beautiful little boy. You've had a busy and fun day with your family. I ate too much this weekend too but I think we both earned it...hee hee.

I NEEEEEEED to hug Torry!!!! That baby is just GORGEOUS! And YOU, ma'am, are NOT to talk bad about yourself anymore or I'm marching MY BIG BUTT right up there and standing you in a corner! Love your Memorial Day post! My grandson, his fiance, my older granddaughter's fiance, and a number of dear friends are in the military! Glad people remembered our servicemen & women! Regardless of our feelings about what wars we should or should not be in, we have to be proud of those who serve! They don't create the conflicts or make the decisions where they are sent - they just GO and do their jobs. I'm grateful to them all!

My dad served in the Army at the end of WWII, where he met my Mom. Then he was in the Army Nat'l Guard until he passed away in 1980. I used to go to work w/him and help him type medical documents.

Small world.:)
