cottage on the lake!

I am pooped out! not sure why. but I am! Just wishing I was taking a real vacation this year. What I really need is a cottage! right on the lake, so I can sit out on a sweet little screened in porch facing the lake at night. I love the sound of the lake at night. When I was little, my great grandparents had a lake cottage in wolcott ny. I remember staying over night sleeping on the back porch listening to the sound of the water while I was falling asleep, so soothing! and then bathing in the lake in the morning! we actually used soap and shampoo in the water. I think now they would say that isnt environmentally safe. but we loved it. I can also remember my grandfather pushing me off the dock when we had been fishing and there was a bullhead on the end of my line. I wasnt happy about that. I remember being very mad at him! I also remember stealing stuff from the little store in town. I dont remember what I stole, but both my cousin and I did and we didnt get caught... naughty girls we were!
You know, I tell you all the time, I was supposed to be a rich princess and i'm sure I was switched at birth. Just think, if I had been left with the right family, I'm sure I would have a beautiful beach house.
I have to admit that sometimes I struggle a little bit when I realize that I am 50 years old and what I have is what I have. not going to ever get a cottage on the lake. I need to be thankful for what I do have (and I am very thankful) and also be thankful that though I will never have that cottage on the lake, I do live just down the road from the lake and can be there in 5 minutes and really, my house is very cottage like. so its all good. right?
OK.. enough rambling.. Ive got to start work 2 hours early tomorrow so I better go figure out what I'm wearing and go to bed!
night all! sweet dreams!

Five minutes is pretty close, but still it would be lovely to fall asleep listening to the water. We rented a beach house for a wk or so some years ago & I still remember how nice that was. I loved walking on the beach early in the morning & then again in the evening. I think you're right - you should have a cottage on the lake and I should have a beach house :)

You ARE a princess! NO doubt in my mind about that! I hope you DO get your beach cottage, Viv! And I will keep hoping for MY cozy log cabin up on a snowy mountain. Sigh! I BELIEVE in dreams coming true. So don't give up! I am 10 years older than you & I will NEVER stop dreaming! LOVE YOU!
P.S. My housemate tells me I'm not DREAMING - I'm DELUSIONAL. Bwahahahaha!

I would love to live 5 minutes to the lake. We live 1 1/2 hours from Lake Michigan, and can only go 2 or 3 times a summer. I would totally live at the beach if I could.

Falling asleep listening to the water is sooooooooo relaxing. A cottage on the lake sounds so peaceful and relaxing as long as the bugs, snakes, etc stay away. I would have a heartache. LOL LOL!
Play the lottery one never knows you might just win and your lake house dream could come true. :-)
Hugs, Fran

Ok. You are going to hate my latest blog post, Vivian. I'm home long enough to check on the cat, scoot Chris outside to water his precious gardens and sneak some blog time. We'll be hitting the road soon to head back to our rental cottage. I just updated the blog with a few pics. Being unplugged is really really hard. I can't wait to get caught up on all your latest happenings when we come back home Saturday!!

I wish we could enjoy our rental for more than a week at a time. 7 days is never long enough. Everyone deserves lake time.

HUGS!!

You got pretty close, Viv, with your cottage not far from the beach. Look at it this way, if you had a cottage on the beach, you'd have a constant stream of company wanting to stay with you! My husband's aunt and uncle had company every single weekend during the summer, because they lived in Denver with the mountains. And my sister has the same, because she lives near the beach in Florida.

No one comes to Kansas! I wonder why? :D

Hi-I just found your blog!
I live on the lake year round and it is a blessing to experience it's many moods!
Five minutes sure isn't bad though! My beach is rocky, so for a sandy beach I drive 25 minutes.
Please drop by and say "hi" and visit my place!

I am so thrilled to discover your blog! I love the red, white and blue, your wonderful photos and antics! I don't have a blog due to my "computer challenged condition". Maybe, one of these days.......
Ahhhhh.....to dream of a cottage on any lake...I wish you a wonderful and safe Fourth of July, dear friend!
