You could use them as garland. Punch a hole in the top of the seed packet and string them with pretty ribbon. In between seed packets, you could staple your festive paper flowers onto the garland for additional fullness.

Can't wait to see what you come up with, Vivan.

Why don't you sew fabric or burlap pouches to slip the seed packs into, and add gardening paraphanelia from the dollar store, like metal or wooden seed labels or something....

I agree with both the girls here...
make homemade ouches ..put in the dirt and a mixture od seeds..tie off with a cute ribbon and garden tag form the dollar store or homemade.
Use the empty packets for garland..or wreath..or napkin holders for the table.

The gifts for the ladies are prayer seeds..ask them to plant these..and when the flowers start growing and blooming..ask the ladies to look and pray for your daughter and her husband on their new journey.

You can decorate with fresh wild flowers or cut flowers in old bottles or cans that have been decorated with the flower seed pks.
Use picnic baskets for serving out of...or quilts for tablecloths.
Use your great imagination..you can do it!!Looking forward to seeing the pictures.

I hope this has helped from all of us!!

I am thinking paper doilies and plant picks/sticks with a sentiment....planting seeds of love....some buttons. Have fun!

Hey Viv,

I used scrap paper, chewed up in a blender and some water to make a paste. I then added the seeds to the mixture and pressed them into little squares with embossed designs on top and made pretty little (plantable) squares after they were dried. Kind of like making your own paper. You can then punch a hole in each corner and tie pretty ribbon through them, or string them into a small bunting or banner. I hope this helps!

Hugs,
Meri

Punch a hole in the tops so you can "doo da" (yes, that IS a technical term!) them up with ribbon, lace, bling. Then attach a cute tag with a "sowing the seeds of love" sentiment. You could also make simple pretty paper covers for the seeds and "doo da" that up.

Wow those are some great ideas Viv.. i love the idea of mixing the seeds..and putting them in a little mesh bag or something like that and attaching a sentiment that you can make with tags..that's such a great idea and it won't take up alot of time!

What about making your felted flowers, a small one and then "planting" it into a very small, cheap flower pot. Then make a concertina out of the seed packet and fix to the flower stem to represent leaves. Then everyone has real flowers and also a keepsake.

All great ideas! I'm blanking out. All I could think of are tags.

I think you could print out a little thing saying something about a successful marriage being like a garden - it begins with seeds: Seeds of kindness, compromise, etc. & include the seeds. I have all SORTS of ideas about how it could look & be presented. And, because you want to use them as favors, you could suggest that each guest/recipient plant her seeds to help Jen's marriage begin to flower! Sorry if that sounds too corny, I'm a mushy/corny kinda gal.

I recently got a favor that included seeds. Here's how they did it:
*Seeds were taken out of package and poured into a see-thru bag and stapled shut with a paper that had a message written on it.
*Then that was put into a little colored envelope with three punched flowers attached to the front.
Let me know if you want me to email you a couple of pics. : )

Dear Viv~ I've got a favor to ask...I would like to invite you over for a visit to see a very special post I've written. I would love it if you could take a few moments to stop by. I know not to long ago you were in my shoes and have found a way to turn your tears of sorrow into tears of joy.
Thank you sweet friend,

Put a picture on of the lovely couple on the front of each seed packet. For directions: add love and wishes! Hugs, Terri

Find some little watering cans at the dollar store and tie the seed packets on with some kind of message about showers of love. I love Terri's idea too!

I don't know if you already have it figured out, so many great ideas. I was thinking I would use vintage teacups, if they had a plate to match even better! Then I would make a paper flower, like a tissue paper flower or something. Place the flower inside the teacup. Staple a piece of curling ribbon to the corner of the seed packet and tie to the cup handle. You could print out little tags that say something sweet about a new beginning, like:

"These seeds represent (Jen and John's (name?) new beginning. They must start off with a good rich soil, faith in God and each other. They will need plenty of sunshine, support of family and friends. Give them lots of water, prayers and good positive thoughts from all those around them. With patient nurturing, they will grow in love, and happiness and beauty will bloom. Let the blossoms of these flowers be a reminder of their love as you enjoy them throughout the years.

Well, something like that Viv, I am only on my 2nd cup of coffee, sorry! But you get the idea.
You could get cups at the Goodwill, or ask friends. Or find some pretty inexpensive new ones at an outlet store. Even if you don't have enough tea cups, you could buy little inexpensive glass vases at a hobby store. I bought some at hobby lobby several years ago on sale, I think a dollar or dollar fifty each. They were cut glass, kinda vintagey looking, about six inches tall and narrow. Very pretty. If you use those, just make a wire stem for each flower as you make it up, and wrap the stem in green florist tape. then you can put it in the vase, and use the ribbon to tie around the vase with the flower pack hanging off. Either way would be cute. If you are running out of time just buy some pretty flowers. Good luck, hope this helps!!

I just reread your post and you mentioned you are broke, so instead of vases or teacups you could buy those little paper boxes that look like Chinese takeout. I have seen them at Michaels in all sorts of colors. That would be pretty too! And just buy a roll of crinkled tissue paper that you use for streamers and roll it up into a flower and glitter the edges. You could put a little button in the center or a pearl or something. That might be cheaper!!
I'm just dying to see what you come up with! What a bunch of creative friends you have, wow!

Make a wrapper for them, like a candy wrapper out of coordinating colored paper of the wedding colors. Then tie with a bit of grosgrain ribbon or twine.

cheap and easy!

something like this

I would purchase those little seed starter cups. Spray paint them. Decorate them with some leftover scraps of wonderful things that you have in your stash. Crape paper, buttons, beads, jewels etc. Insert a plastic fork upside down in the cup (filled with dirt)to hold seeds and use them as place cards or favors for your guests. Decorate some of the seed packets and use them on the gift table, cake table. Flower seeds would be my theme.

I would tuck them into library card envelopes with a little quote about growing together stamped or printed and adhered to the front and embellished with a bit of ribbon, lace, and other embellishments. It's fairly quick and easy and will look pretty at each place setting.
